Variables and Data

Once you’ve successfully downloaded one or more classes, you may want to figure out how to interpret the data files that you have just downloaded. In this section, we’ll provide you with an overview of the information contained within the downloaded files.

CourseKata Data Structure

Data downloaded from CourseKata come in a zip file with the following structure (this example assumes data for two classes were downloaded):

1. responses.csv
2. page_views.csv
3. media_views.csv
4. items.csv
5. learnosity_types
6. coding and non-coding questions

Remember to abide by our Terms of Use. Any personally identifiable information or sensitive data must be removed or anonymized before publication or sharing. You may never share students’ data with anyone other than authorized researchers.
