Survey Structure: Student Background Information
Student background refers to information about the students enrolled in the course. Examples of student background information include: age, race, ethnicity, gender, parental education, or major. This information is assessed at the beginning of the course (see below for a detailed overview of the student background information for version 5.4).

Added or replaced:
- Replaced intrinsic value pulse check item with mindset pulse check item
Removed:
- Utility for job item
- Performance and mastery goal orientation
- Programming anxiety scale
- Memorization item
- Deep thinking and understanding concept item
- Perceptions of instructor value
- Incoming course concerns
- Language (student background)
- One item each for mindset and expectancy at both mid timepoints
- Math anxiety items from mid1 and mid2 survey
- Utility value activity in chapters 4 and 8
Reworded or moved:
- Reworded all mindset items to capture statistics ability/intelligence rather than general mindset beliefs or mathematic specific mindset beliefs
